Keep your eyes open. These records have already been digitized and are part of the set which were accidentally made available digitally at Family History Centers earlier this year. Word from LDS is that when the proper contracts are in place, these digital records will be made available again. (Back in June they said this would occur "soon", but the definition of "soon" was left open.)

Also, a caution: several of the microfilms which were digitized seem to be on prolonged backorder. Of the six I ordered in mid-June, only two were available immediately. The others still have yet to appear.

I suggest you read the following. The riveli were earlier tax census records. Not available for the time period of 1870 to 1880.

thats what i said. unfortunately the time and place i'm looking for are not there. and rivelli from the 1600s aren't much use to a genealogist searching for the time period of his grandparents and great grandparents.

Riveli records are somewhat of a last resort even when you have them for the proper years. There are many people who do not appear in the tax records.

A genealogist would find the births, marriages and deaths for Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto of far more use for researching people in the 1870-1880 time frame:

i did that years ago. the problem is,the family unit is very uncertain and disconnected. my paternal grandmother (b.1883) was born ignoti genitor(unknown parents) and the family i'm searching records for are her adoptive or surrogate mother, who was also her wetnurse (as stated in the birth record),and this woman's husband, who did not appear to be married,as i searched the marriage records in barcellona as well as the comunes of their births-gualtieri sicamino for the "wife" and palermo for the"husband" with no results. after exhaustive research i have come to the conclusion they never married. they did have 3 children, all born in barcellona,a son(1872) and 2 daughters(1877 & 1880),but in the birth of the 2nd child and first daughter, the parents, this couple, were noted as unmarried. occasionally couples did marry after several years, but i found nothing. thats why i was hoping that some sort of census record would be available for barcellona in this time period. see if this family appeared as a unit. really nothing else to go on.
