Luigi Lorenzo

Postby demari18 » 24 Sep 2016, 21:07

I have posted regarding Luigi Lorenzo before. Today I received information from the Homeland Security Department and a copy of Luigi's Alien Registration form. The date listed for his birth is April 20, 1871 in Teano, Italy. I have searched those records as did Marty and Tessa and we did not find him. The only new information was his arrival. Arrived in New York on April 27, 1892 aboard the S.S. Letibro from Palermo. I could not find him listed aboard that ship or a sailing for that ship in April. I'm hoping that someone can find him as a passenger. Also the spelling for the ship seems to be Letimbro not Letibro. Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

Oh, my goodness!!! How wonderful of you to find this. His destination was Providence and seeing the age listed as 25 gives me a different year to look for his birth record. The family oral history said that he was adopted by perhaps an aunt or uncle. I have his parents' names from his death certificate but am eager to learn if the names listed were his mother and father or perhaps the adopted parents. You have helped me greatly. Thank you again

Great find on the manifest!

It appears that the surname is spelled LAURENZA, not Lorenzo :-)

Based on a new approximation of year of birth, and the day/month you posted as April 20...

Here is a birth act from 1866 in Teano. Birth on 21 April, presentation on 22.
HOWEVER, the child's name is Nicola Erminio Alvino Laurenza...
Just thought I would post it in case it relates in some way.
Father: Pasquale Laurenza, 25, son of Nicola
Mother: Carolina Silvestro.
