In Italy, as you know you must have a full name and approximate year of birth and place of birth in order to obtain document such as a birth record but judging from your text you are not even sure where he was born. The only certain thing that I can divine is that he may have served in the Italian army as a young man and his records are made public after 75 years in the provincial archives of Palermo. Peter

The address is Artchiuvio di Stato, Sezione Termini Imerese, Archivio Militare,Corso Vittorio Emanuele 31, Postale 90133, Palermo, Sicily, Italy. Send a request for his conscription records (registro di Leva) or his Discharge records (foglio di congedo illimitato) in Italian, if possible and include a self addressed envelope. Address your letter to the Director Mr. Claudio Torrisi. If you cannot send the letter in italian then write in VERY VERY simple english.. My name is. My grandfather was born in the Province of Palermo. His name is. He was born on or about. etc......Peter <BR>.
