Here's a link to those coming through Ellis Island.

If you are more specific, first names, estimated years of birth, location of where they settled..we could probably help more.

Let us know!

My grandfather was Carmelo Calarco, he came to New York Ellis Island from Reggio Calabria near the turn to the century 1900. I'm looking for information on the family.

Ok,

Try this link.

http://stevemorse.org/goulnik/match1.ph ... &dwpdone=1

There's only 4 Carmelo's. One might be yours!

Where did your grandfather settle once in New York? We may have different options.

Hope this helps!

Nuccia :)

Hi There,

As Nuccia stated, if you can be more specific with your request, we can help you more with locating information.

Now if your family is from Barga in the Lucca Region, then the Family History Center has microfilm that you can order and rent for $5.75 a roll. Here is the link for the film numbers.
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... =1&last=50

On the film you will find copies of the Birth, Marriage, and Death Acts of your ancestors.

Here is the link to find the nearest Family History Center.
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp

Here is the address for the town just in case you want to write for the records.

Ufficio Stato Civile
Comune di Barga
Pascoli Sn (piazza)
55051 Barga LU

Here is their official web site for the town of Barga.

A good book to get is A Genealogist's Guide to Discovering Your Italian Ancestors by Lynn Nelson.

I hope some of this helps.

tjpowersjr,

Did you or someone you know, post on ancestry message board in Mar of 2005?

Just curious since I noticed someone posting your surname, but his father was Angelo was Reggio and not his grandfather.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll provide a link.

Hi Renzo
as a fellow Scot I might be able to help you.
I have done some research with a distant relation in the US about the Catignani's from Barga. If you can link to Luigi Giuseppe Catignani born in the 1850's in Barga then we are on a winner
Regards
