I found some info on the last name Astore

ASTORE, ASTORI : From the name of the bird (goshawk) used by hunters in the Middle ages, possibly derived from a profession of bird trainer or a physical/psychological trait.

Hello Tiffani,

There are 2 boat records found on Ancestry.com that show a Michele Astore... going to Boston who has a wife in San Giuliano, Campobasso by the name Maria

Again from San Giuliano, Italy with a wife Maria in Italy...

(a cousin Raffaele Astore was from San Giuliano di Puglia)....
------------------------------

How do you know he shortened his name? Do you know what it could have been?

Can you guess the year of birth?

Can you tell us where they settled in Mass.? Names of children... we could find a census record.... Did they marry here in the USA or Italy?

Is the surname Cifelli familiar to you?

Hopefully, we can find something!
