Joseph Casady (Casadei)

Postby U11134 » 21 Feb 2006, 03:42

I am researching a Joseph Casady. He was born in Santarcangelo, Italy in about 1876. His grandson said that his surname, Casadei was taken from an orphanage by that name presumably in Santarcangelo. I have not been able to trace the orphanage and do not know if it still exists. Can anyone help me

I have heard that my great great grandfather's surname was acquired based on the name of the orphanage that he was raised in... I don't beleive that the orphanage was named Casadei though...

Historically, “casa dei”, meaning “house of God”, was the surname given to babies left at orphanages.
