I suggest you to request to NARA, using the NARA 81 form, their ship record, there you find written some other infos.
Also look for their naturalization records (if any), where you find right date and place of birth, also find their marriage application and marriage act, death act and cemetery record.
If you think your ancestor was from Chieti area, request a research of birth record to

Archivio di Stato di Chieti

http://wwwdb.archivi.beniculturali.it/S ... 2CHIETI%22

municipalities in the province of Chieti are

http://www.comuni-italiani.it/069/lista.html

I hope it helps, good luck, bye Riccardo

Hi There,

Here is the information on the 1930 census for Ferdinando and Beatrice. Per this census, they were married about 1904. He came to the USA about 1905 and already Petitioned to be Naturalized. She came about 1912.

Name: Ferdinando Dimarzio
Age: 52
Estimated birth year: abt 1878
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to head-of-house: Head
Spouse's Name: Beatrice Dimarzio
Race: White
Home in 1930: Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Image source: Year: 1930; Census Place: Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Roll: 2110; Page: 6A; Enumeration District: 73; Image: 972.0.

Now do you have their marriage application? If not, I can get you the license number for them if they show up in the Philadelphia Marriage Index. I'll let you know of Wednesday.

Also, do you have anyone's death certificate? Do you have the ship's manifests for them?

Also, are you in Philadelphia? If so, I can tell you where to go for records.

Hope this helps,
Trish

Hi again,

Skip the Marriage Information in Philadelphia. They were married in Italy for I have the manifest for Beatrice Cassella coming in 1914 and traveling with her two children, Giuseppe (b. 1910) and Carolina (b. 1912). It looks like Beatrice was born in Teramo, Italy. It's a two page manifest. It's the Philadelphia Port. Just in case someone posts it for you.

Name: Carolina Dimarzio
Arrival Date: 27 Jun 1914
Age: 2 Years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1912
Gender: Female
Ethnic Background: Italian (South)
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Ship Name: Ancona
Port of Arrival: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Friend's Name: Ferdinando Dimarzio
Last Residence: Italy
Birthplace: Newens, Italy
Microfilm Roll Number: T840_127

And the Family History Center has microfilm that you can order and rent for $5.75 a roll for the town of Teramo. Here is the link for the film numbers

I hope this helps,

Hi There,

If you have time to go to Philly, then go to 9th & Chestnut Streets to the National Archives. You might be able to find the Natrualization records for DeMarzio. He already Petitioned by 1930. I would say by 1941 he was Naturalized.

Also, the people at 9th & Chestnut are real dolls there and are willing to help.

Also, if you wanted to order microfilm, depending where you live. Broomall has a Family History Center which is near Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

I hope this helps,
Trish

Trish,
Thanks for your suggestions. I have visited the Broomall FHC in the past. Did you by chance, find Vincent Casselo on the same manifest as Beatrice?According to Beatrice's daughter, her mother and grandfather came together.

Discovered that the ship manifest for Jun 1914 was not the initital date of immigration. They were returning from an extended visit in Italy. Both Joseph and Caroline (Katie) were born in the US per their sister (my mother-in-law).

Hi Klo, I don't know is this record is a good record for you, however are a Vincenzo Cassella age 50 in 1906 coming from Teramo, in travel with Serafina Saponi age 25(?)and Costantino Cassella age 17, both joining in Phila to Giuseppe Epifanio brother in law...

Thanks for the link. The spellings are not quite the same. However, it is the correct village. My mother-in-law does not recognize the other names. I will attempt to find these people on the census.

Hi Klo....

Here is the manifest for 1905 for Ferdinando and Beatrice. This is them, the person who transcribed the manifest made the errors with the spelling of the names and town.

First Name: Berenice
Last Name: Casella
Ethnicity: Italy Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Teraino
Date of Arrival: Jul 03, 1905
Age at Arrival: 22y Gender: F Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Romanic
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0011

It still looks like they were married in Italy, but I would still double-check the Philadelphia Marriage Index to rule out them being married in Philadelphia.

Also, I was just at NARA in Philadelphia getting Naturalization records for clients and I suggest that if you have the time, go! You'll get Ferdinado's Naturalization records.

I'm still looking for Vincenzo. However, I hope this helps for now.
