ciacciomuschettofamily,
My apologies, I should have posted this before.
I'm using ancestry.com for Census & WWI Draft Registration info.
If you don't have a subscription, your local Family History Center
and probably your library can provide you access.

Noticed a trend for some of your family to move to California?
Quite a few records on ancestry for possible family there also.

Suggested steps for research are generally to gather everything you
can find in US records - starting with what you know to be facts (or close).
Generally these can give you a place of birth for your family in Italy.
Research in Italy really requires a place of birth since the majority of
records that you'll be looking for are kept at the local level (see notes
from suanj & jcsm on this)
If this is over-simplified, or not getting into enough detail - please let us know!

Please keep us updated!

well a little resume for better understand, because is some discrepance.. from last email by topic author we can say that this is the main family lineage:

• 1. Antonio/Giovanni Muschetto born abt ? in Italy and spouse Maria Schiro born in Italy abt..?
o 1.1 Antonio Muschetto born abt 1857 imm 1889 spouse Rosa Ranno born abt 1868 imm 1893
 Joseph Muschetto born 25 Dec 1898 spouse Concetta/Costantina Ciaccio born in LA in 1906
[hr]

• 1. Luca Ciaccio born in Italy abt 1851 spouse Mary/Ibarta born in Italy abt 1856; imm. 1885
o 1.1 Joe Ciaccio born in LA abt 1899 spouse Mary born abt 1901
o 1.2 Concetta Ciaccio born in LA 1906 married at Joseph Muschetto
o 1.3 Rosa(Rosie) Ciaccio born in Oscar Crossing in Pointe Coupee Parish, LA 1907; died 13 Dec 2002, 96 old
o 1.4 Tony Ciaccio born in LA abt 1910
[hr]
now the problem is the ship's manifest... no records.... what I can say that the large Muschettos they came from Petralia Sottana especially and Piana degli Albanesi ... I think that is better to send a email in Petralia Sottana (as first option) for a search in birthregistries :

[hr]
luigi.lupinacci @ petraliasottana.net (NO SPACES)

......your name
............your complete and exact address
[hr]
For now is no possible to find more, so we must wait Petralia Sottana reply, and if negative needing to write in Piana degli Albanesi... regards, suanj

Hi, How do I get the birth certificates? To all of you above, thank you for the information you have provided. I do have a membership to Ancestry. Don't always know the most efficient way to use program. Any suggestions on how to get more information based on the information above, I would appreciate. I posted the recent information that was found on Ancestry but someone else posted the information about the those family members from the 1880's and 1990's. Would love to find that person who may have even more information. Thanks to all.

I have just learned the my Muschetto family is related to the Matranga family. The Matranga family are Albanese and believe their commune is Piana de Crechi. I have also learned that my Muschetto family may be Albanese and may have been from Piano de Albania, Santa Christina Gella or Piana de Crechi. My friend said she entered the commune name and then somehow got a reply regarding the Matranga name. I have also been told to get in touch with the Arbresch Society.

Do any of these leads seem relevant? Do you have any advice on how to check with these communes, or how to reach the Arbresch Society? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have been told that my Muschetto Family are related to the Matranga family who are Albanese and from Piana de Crechi. Any advice on how to contact Arbresch Society? Muschetto quite possibly could be Albanese, how do I contact Piana de Crechi, Piano de Albania and Santa Chritina Gella to ask if there is a Muschetto clan there?

Any help would be most appreciated. :D
