Newbie - Brickwall

Postby levans442 » 12 Apr 2006, 17:23

Hi everyone, I am a newbie to this website so please forgive any stupid questions I ask !!

I have hit a brickwall with my Italian research and I was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction.

My husbands ancestor Andrea CUNEO was born in Italy in 1827. He came to the UK ni the 1850's with what was supposed to be his brother Luigi CUNEO born 1840. I have found Luigi's birth on the IGI, and also the marriage of his parents in 1830 - making the birth data of Andrea either unlikely or not the brother of Luigi.

Andrea was married to Maria Garibaldi who was born in 1834 - I don't know if they were married in Italy or UK.

In September we visited Coreglia Ligure where Andrea & Luigi are from and met up with a man from the local church who was very helpful. We could not find any record of the birth of Andrea CUNEO anywhere. The birth year of Andrea is confirmed on several census records. I have no proof that Luigi and Andrea were brothers - they started and Ice Cream factory together in Sheffield, England.

So I don't knwo where to go from here - shipping records don't seem to exist so I am stuck - any idea's would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the info

I think they came to the UK in the 1850's so unfortunatley these films would not cover the date that I think they came over from Italy. It may give me a lead as to who to contact thought !! will let you know if I have any joy

Lisa,

Info of who (Great Britian, Board of Trade) had these records could help you found other passenger lists.
