FERRI from Naples

Postby mjones » 19 Jun 2006, 08:24

I am new to this forum and as such I hope that I am following the rules and protocol. I am researching Dominic T. Ferri (b) Jan 17, 1894 in Naples (according to his WWI draft registration). He emmigrated from Naples on Oct 8, 1912 on the Sant Anne. I do not have any information on siblings however he did list his father Domenico Ferri as his relative in Italy.

How and where do I send for Birth Certificate information?

Napoli is a province, you must know the exact town of origin in order to send for birth records.

Hello,
on the manifest ship list there is written as last residence TIONE (and not CIANE as wrongly transcribed by Ellis Island volounteers)
There are two Tione in Italy: one in province of Trento, and the other one in province of L'Aquila.
I would suggest to check to the civil record office of the second one, to see if he was born there:

Comune
Ufficio di Stato Civile
Via Provinciale
CAP 67020 Tione degli Abruzzi (AQ)
Italy

or check to Archivio di Stato di L'Aquila

http://wwwdb.archivi.beniculturali.it/S ... 'AQUILA%22

or rent Tione degli Abruzzi civil record microfilms to FHL (mormon church)

I hope it helps, bye Riccardo

Riccardo and Wldspirit:

Thank you so much for your input. This puts me on a new road and I can see that there is much to learn.

Thank you again for your quick response. I will request information from Tione degli Abruzzi as suggested.

Mary
