Hi,
Can anybody give me any info about Vincenzo Guida.I think he was born in Sicily about 1882.He came through Ellis Island about 1906.After spending time in Philadelphia, he moved to Vineland New Jersey and remained there until he died about 1938.

Can you tell us what info you already have so we don't duplicate? What was his wife's and children names? Siblings? Parents? There are at least 57 Vincenzo's going through Ellis Island..Which one is yours?

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks for the help. My mother-in-law posted this through a friend and couldn't figure out how to log in but will when she returns.

We believe the Vincenzo Guida we're looking for is the one from Roccapalumba
42. Vincenzo Guida Roccapalumba 1906 33

Any additional information would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi everyone. I know this thread is really old, but I just started researching my families ancestry and when I typed in my great-grandfathers name, Vincenzo (James) Guida, your forum came up. I really wish I would have come here sooner, because it would have saved me many hours of searching and questioning my relatives. The census information posted here is all correct. Mary (Marietta) Guida, Vincenzo's daughter, was my grandmother.

So my question is, since I know Vincenzo was her father and Josephine was her mother and I know that they were from Roccapalumba, Sicity, where do I look to get information on them..their parents, etc.? Once I get to Italy, I am so lost!! Any help you can provide is very much appreciated!!!

I'm also doing the other side of the family "Marandino" but I won't hit you with that one just yet

Hello,

Your next step is the Mormon Church and their Family History Centers....there are microfilms of the civil records for Roccapalumba (they look pretty extensive too!):

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... eno=471755

There should be a church/center near you....you need to order the microfilms and view them there but that should get you the history you have been looking for....I was able to go back to the 1700s with just a few records:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... et_fhc.asp

E-mail me if you need more navigation....good luck!

Thank you so much for the information! I knew it was wishful thinking that there was an online source, but there is one in the next town over. Hopefully I can get time to go there within the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know how I make out.
