Grande Family

Postby phishfood » 03 Aug 2006, 06:03

I am trying to find a census record that is impossible for me to find and was wondering if anyone could help out. I am looking in the 1920 census for a Vicenzo and Angela Maria Grande. They lived in Staten Island, NY. I believe he died in 1925. I have found her in the 1930 census living with her son but wanted to find an earlier census with the 2 of them together. Vincenzo was born about 1864 I think and Angela was born in 1875 for sure. They have 3 kids. Andrew (think he was born in 1886 or 1888), Onorato (henry) born in 1899, and maria angela born in 1893. They all came from Frondi, Italy. Let me know if anyone can help. Thanks so much!!! :)

Kim,

If you are unable to find Vicenzo and Angela Maria Grande in the 1920 perhaps the 1925 NY State census will have the information you need. It is available on microfilm. A quick google search will show you where it is available other than LDS. Most dosen't seem to be indexed.

I have found some state census for NJ that have been helpful in my research. Because state census reports (where available) are a little harder to use, sometimes we forget they are available.

I have to remember that before the census reports on ancestry.com in the last several years, all census research was by microfilm. Aren't we spoiled!

VaDeb,

I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder. My only concern is that Vincenzo died in 1925 but I will take a look and see if I can find them.

Hi Kim,

I found this in the NY Death Index.

Name - Age - Death Date - Certificate Number - County - Soundex

Grande, Vincenzo - 57 y - March 15, 1925 - 550 - Richmond - G653
Grande, James - 60 y - June 22, 1926 - 17979 - Manhattan - G653

It could be a good possibility for Vincenzo Grande's Death.

Smile for me!:)
