Moroni Question

Postby lalexander98 » 07 Aug 2006, 02:56

Can anyone help me find out if my Moroni relatives that lived in Cuggiono, Born in either Bariano or Malvaglio are related to the Moroni family from Vergiate. I recently met some Moroni's and it's quite a coincidence the Cuggiono and Malvaglio are only 18 miles from Vergiate.

My great grand father's name was Vincenzo (Vincent) Moroni. He was born in 1890. immigrated to US.

The other family from Vergiate was Carlo Moroni, sorry no other info on him yet.

Very curious, Thank you.

Lynn

Yes, that's him! Thank you so much for a new window into his life. I never saw that info before. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. Is it possible to find out if he and Carlo were related? I believe Carlo came through Canada to the US.

thanks again,

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

To answer your original question, I would say the best way to figure out the relationship b/t Vincent & Carlo Moroni, would be by getting parent names from Vincent's birth act & then requesting a state of the family certificate for his family

Unfortunately, I have not found any listing for LDS films for the hamlet of Malvaglio (part of the comune of Robecchetto Con Induno) nor the comune of Cuggiono, so you will have to write for all records.

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
20020 Robecchetto con Induno (MI)
ITALY

and

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
20012 Cuggiono (MI)
ITALY

Letter should be in Italian & include self addressed return envelope + copy of your photo ID + an international reply coupon (obtain from your post office-covers the cost of the return postage).

Here is a link to some form letters that will help.

Also, here is Vincent Moroni's WWI Draft Registration Card....shows both parents were living in Jan 1917.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, I will try to send in those forms. My italian is not so good, so I will work on it. Love the draft registration card!

Hi Lynn,

You're welcome.

Here is a link to an Italian-English genealogical word list that will help when you get the records. Also, if you do need more help with translating, you can post a link to the record here & some kind soul will come along & translate.

Good luck in your research. Let us know if you need anything else.

I am also researching the Moroni surname. I believe that Ersilia Moroni was either the mother or sister of an uncle, Gaetano Moroni. I believe I have a picture of her.

Gaetano was in the St. Louis area around 1918-20, married our aunt, but died a few years later from TB. He went back to Italy to 'die in the old country'. I know little about the Moroni family.

Would like to communicate with anyone interested in this family.
