Postby cpaliani » 18 Aug 2006, 07:26

I have found a Natalia J. Paliani and Olivia Simoni from Italy. I am just looking for more info on both of them. Paliani's mom may have been a testa or cesta. Thanks for any help you can give me.

What i have on Paliani is: Natalia J. "Jim" Paliani, DOB: Sep 8, 1869 Birth place: Patrica,Italy, Died: Feb 4, 1960 Los Angeles, Father ? Paliani and Mother was a Testa or Cesta. Most of this info is from Ancestry.com.
Immigrated or arrived on Apr 22, 1898 got this from ellis island.com also info from 1910 and 1920 census.

Olivia Simoni : Born Abt. 1885. Residence Patrica, Italy, arrived in US Dec 29, 1906, 1910 and 1920 census. Same places found ancestry.com and ellis island.

found a note somewhere that they were married abt. 1904. in the Census' I found the names of about 7 children, one of which is my husbands grandfather.

I am really wanting to know about their relatives in Italy. The parents and siblings, grandparents, dates and places. I dont know where to look to find stuff for Italy. Im new to this whole genealogy thing. Thanks again for your help

Is this the manifest you are referring to?

It certainly does look like he's 29 years old and not 25 on the info below...

1898 Manifest of Natalino Paliani

First Name: Natalino
Last Name: Paliani
Ethnicity: Italian
Last Place of Residence: Patrica
Date of Arrival: Apr 22, 1898
Age at Arrival: 25y (29) Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Neustria
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0016

Maria

Further.. best to sort out your American-Italian family history first.. and then move backwards...

Natalino's mother's surname was most likely Testa...

Just wondering where you found this information...

LDS films for Patrica, Italy.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... o+civile++

These films are very limited, only 3 years of marriage records, 1 of marriage publicaions, & 3 years for deaths.

For birth acts & marriages & deaths not included in the films, you can write to:

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Patrica
03010 Patrica (FR)
ITALY

Letter should be in Italian & include a self addressed return envelope, a copy of your photo ID (required by Italian), & an international reply coupon (covers the return postage & can be obtained from your post office).

Link to form letters.

Hope this helps.

That does make sense, but why do the LDS films say "Ufficio dello Stato Civile?"

Lisa,

I'm not sure why you posted that information :?: :?: :?: :?
Even the form letter that we provide a link to has the address as "Ufficio dello Stato Civile."

Perhaps there is no difference.......I do not live in Italy.....but are Italian posters do, and they use di instead of dello.......

even Trafford Cole's book list it as di......

Here is Olivia Simoni's Manifest you mentioned at the beginning of your post off to join husband Natale on 308 Market St., Paterson NJ

Link to Olivia, children Diolinda and Pietro Manifest

First Name: Oliva
Last Name: Simoni
Ethnicity: Italian, South
Last Place of Residence: Patrica
Date of Arrival: Dec 20, 1906
Age at Arrival: 25y Gender: F Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Konig Albert
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0023

0023. Simoni, Oliva F 25y M Italian, South Patrica
0024. Paliano, Diolinda F 2y S Italian, South Patrica
0025. Paliano, Pietro F 17y?? S Italian, South Patrica

Maybe the child was 17 mo...

Imagine... father Natale would finally meet his son Pietro for the first time!!

So... Natale was a single man in USA... must have gone back to Italy.. married there... so... there should be another ships record for Natale....
