News about my grandfather

Postby luclor97 » 20 Sep 2006, 21:35

Hellò to everybody!
I didn't find news about my great grandfather Foppiani Giovanni and his wife Foppiani Luigia (maiden name Muzio). I 'm sure of their first son birth date:
Foppiani Louis (Luigi) birth in 1877 in NY.
I'd like to know where they lived in NY and the other sons's names...

Thanks

luciano (from Italy)

Hi Luciano....

We have been in touch before at GenForum, Italy. I looked for a census doc. and only found a William listed as a foundling born in NY in about 1879...but nothing else. I know I have searched before...

Maybe the experts here will find something......they are the best.

Will continue to seek out the names......

Have a great one, Susan

News about my grandfather

Postby luclor97 » 23 Sep 2006, 17:04

Hi jcsm400, thanks.
In your 1900 census appeared Foppiani and Muzio names but unfortunately
my great grandfather returned to Italy in 1887 ca. with all his family. All his sons were born in USA included my grandfather Luigi (first son).

In the meantime I got his sons's names:
- Luigi (Louis) Foppiani - born in NY on 23th june 1877
- Carlo (Charlie) "
- Andrea (Andrew) "
- Teresa "
- Emilio "
- Eugenia "

As I said above all returned in Italy with Foppiani Giovanni and maybe Foppiani Louisa (Luigia) maiden name Muzio. The missing period is before 1887. I'm not even sure if my great grandfather was born in USA or arrived as emigrant...In Italy a lot of information were lost cause the war...
A family news is that Giovanni earn for his living making dancing a small monkey on Manhattan sidewalk...

Hi Susan, thanks again.
I know that my great grandfather returned to Italy in 1887 ca. with all his family. All his sons were born in USA and my grandfather (first son) was ten years old.

In the meantime I got his sons's names:
- Luigi (Louis) Foppiani
- Carlo (Charlie) "
- Andrea (Andrew) "
- Teresa "
- Emilio "
- Eugenia "

As I said above all returned in Italy with Foppiani Giovanni and maybe Foppiani Louisa (Luigia) maiden name Muzio. The missing period is before 1887. I'm not even sure if my great grandfather was born in USA or arrived as emigrant...In Italy a lot of information were lost cause the war...

Ciao Susan e grazie dell'aiuto.

Hi Luciano,

These are just possibilities for Carlo's arrival to the US.

Search criterie: Carlo Fopp*, arrival between 1810-1887>

Carlo Foppiani 2 Apr 1861 abt 1839 Male Le Havre, France Sarde Mercury
View Record Carlo Foppiano 29 Jul 1851 abt 1813 Male Genoa, Italy Italy Ippogrifo
View Record Carlo Foppiano 17 Oct 1872 abt 1850 Male Le Havre, France and London, England Italy Helvetia

Did same for Luigi (1877)....no match.

I'm striking out on finding this family on a census record......I did find this that may have a connection. Do you have year of birth for the other children (approx)?

Hi Jcsm,
the Chas you found is not my uncle because he was born too early.
My uncle Foppiani Carlo (Charlie) didn't arrive in USA, but he was born in NYC the 1st April 1884.

The first son was Foppiani Luigi (Louis) born 23th June 1877.
These two dates are sure!
Alll Foppiani Giovanni's sons were born in USA - NYC.

In 1887 all the family returned to Italy. Maybe in a 1880 census it's possible to find some family records...or a birth certificate...

The missing period is also before 1877...

thanks
luciano
