Rossini/Serfilippi

Postby southernlady » 29 Oct 2006, 21:23

My grandfather was Francesco Serfilippi arrived in the U S in 1900.
My grandmother Marianna Rossini arrived 1907.
Are there any Rossini or Serfilippi connections out there?

Hi,

While Rossini is a very common surname in Italy, i found Serfilippi quite only in the area of Pesaro (Marche) and Rome (Lazio).
It's easier to think that your ancestor moved from Pesaro to Rome than viceversa, so the area of Pesaro is probably the living place of your italian ancestors.

Tommaso

My mother's side of my family is Rossini.

My great-grandfather was Augustine Rossini. He was born and married in or near the Pesaro region of Italy. He married Eliza Siepi. He was born (I believe) in 1879. He died in 1931. I'm going to assume they got married about 1909, and came to Canada in 1912 perhaps??

I don't really have a lot of information beyond that, except for the children they had (one being my grandfather).

But yeah, I'm sure Rossini is a common name, like the Composer. I'd like to find a way to connect the composer to my family but I have no idea where to start with that. I believe the composer had children but I can't find anything about his children on the Internet.

Does anyone have more information on the Rossini family??

Thanks!

My mom's family is from Croatia, a little town called Zablace. In that town there are a few Rossini's, all my cousins from what I figure. Now I found in my little town over in Croatia there is another name Rosini (but the -s- is pronounced like -sh- in English). That was my Great great Grandmother's name her first name was Millica. Her dad was Giovanni Rosini (sh sound) and he was from Italy. Now I would like to know more about the name, it looks like your question sparked questions for others aswell.
