Postby cinquegranna » 04 Dec 2006, 03:25

Hello,

I am James C (Granny) Cinquegranna. I am from Pittsburgh PA. Some of my relatives are Nichole Granny (uncle) James Granny (father), David Grainey (fathers uncle) My great grandfather was Francis he came over from Genova. He had several sons. James, David... He worked as a house man for Andrew Carnegie. If anyone might have anymore information that would be great. Thank you for your time.

Hi There,

Do you know the year of birth for your James? And did the family settle in Pittsburgh?

This could be the possible WWI Draft Card of James (Aka-Vincenzo). If so, then he was from the town of Castelbuono, Palermo, Sicily, Italy

Name: James Cinquegrani
City: Pittsburgh
County: Allegheny
State: Pennsylvania
Birthplace: Italy
Birth Date: 17 Apr 1895
Race: Caucasian (White)
Roll: 1908112
DraftBoard: 5

Now if this is your ancestor James, then the Family History Center has microfilm for the town. On the films you can find copies of the birth, marriage, and death records of your ancestors. Here is the link for the film
numbers.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... 1&last=100

Here is the link to find the nearest Family History Center.
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp

Now remember, this is only a possibility since you did not state the birth year of James.

Please get back to us and we will be able to help you better.

Hi Again,

Here is a possible 1910 census for the family. The spelling is way off, but when looking at the census, you can see the name. Also, per this census, Antonio came around 1899 and is still considered an Alien. Antonio is also a widower. The son, Domenico came to the USA aroun 1903 and was Naturalized around 1913. Vincenzo and Louis came around 1903 and still are considered Aliens. Lucia was born in the USA. These are some great clues.

My father's name is Anthony Joseph (Ceno) Cinquegrani. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1937. His father was Domenico Cinquegrani born in Castelbuono, Sicily and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Lucia. My father had a brother named Augustine Cinquegrani born in Pittsburgh in 1936. Other last names of close family members are Jarussi, Marabella, and Quinto.

I am interested in finding out more about the Cinquegrani family. If any of these names & dates are meaningful to you and you wish to compare notes with me I would welcome an email from you at lvegas@gmail.com

Hi There,

I'm not sure what information you may have on Domenico, but here is some possible information on him.

Here is a possible 1930 census for Domenico and his wife, Mary. Per this census, Domenico came in 1904 and was already naturalized. They were also married around 1925. However, without knowing a birth year for Domenico, this is only a possibility.

Estimated birth year: abt 1890
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's name: Mary

Household Members: Name Age

Mary Cinquegrani 23

Here is the possible WWI Draft Card of Domenico

Possible death date for Domenico.

State (Year) SSN issued: Pennsylvania (Before 1951 )

Just in case you didn't know, the Family History Center does have microfilm for the town of Castelbuono. The films cost $5.75 a roll and on the films you can find copies of the birth, marriage, and death records of your ancestors.

Here is the link for the film numbers.

Re: Cinquegranna's - Antonino Cinquegrani, b. abt. 1854

Postby antusani » 19 Jan 2009, 15:15

I have a record of Antonino Cinquegrani, who emigrated from Castelbuono, Sicily, to Pittsburgh, PA in 1900. He was 46 years old and married at the time. His destination was to the home of his brother-in-law, Lorenzo Battaglia.

My relative, Rosario Messina, emigrated in 1902 from Cefalu, Sicily to Sharpsburg, PA to the home of his uncle Antonino Cinquegrani. Rosario was born about 1878.

In 1905, my great-uncle, Orazio Di Gangi, emigrated from Tusa, Sicily, to the home of his cousin, Rosario Messina.

I am trying to trace where my relatives and their descendants went and would appreciate any information about these families.
