Many of the names mentioned ended up on the East Coast,
although this manifest of Raffaele shows his destination as Chicago.

Do you have any approximate dates of birth? Names of spouses or children? Any and all details will help to locate the family.

Hi everyone,

My gg grandfather was Francesco Cianchetta from Sulmona approx birth 1813 death 1899 had married late in life, I dont know his wife's name. They had children Antonio, Concezio, Raffaele, Bambina, Angiolina, Loreto and Giuseppe. I couldn't tell you their date of birth or any of their spouses names, because I don't have the information. I know that the surname have various spellings ending either with an e or i making it more confusing to check the right person. My g grandfather Loreto(1851-1917) who married Cesidia Maria Malvestuto had Lucia who travelled to Chicago. I did look on Ellis Island for her that was evidence that she belonged to this family. What do I really need to do to track the others? Do I really need the date of births, if I dont even know?

I believe this could be a link, my grandfather Carmine wrote some of his memoirs, he stated that Domenico Cianchetta was a son of Concezio went to Chicago. Is it possible that Concezio 7 was named after his grandfather?

Is this the manifest you were talking about earlier on?

My g grandfather Loreto(1851-1917) who married Cesidia Maria Malvestuto had Lucia who travelled to Chicago. I did look on Ellis Island for her that was evidence that she belonged to this family. Loreto's daughter?

First Name: Lucia
Last Name: Cianchetta
Ethnicity: Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Sulmona, Aquila
Date of Arrival: Dec 01, 1913
Age at Arrival: 21y Gender: F Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Berlin
Port of Departure: Naples

This manifest does mention a father Loreto (in Italy), but also mentions that her brother is Domenico in Chicago.

Just a thought... this Angiolina's mother in Italy was Concezia...

Page 1

Page 2

First Name: Angiolina
Last Name: Cianchetta (Born in 1897)
Ethnicity: Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Pettorano, Italy
Date of Arrival: Jun 02, 1914
Age at Arrival: 17y Gender: F Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Taormina
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0003

This Angiolina would be joining her sister Maria Giuseppa leaving her mother Concezia in Italy.

Traditionally, the first born son is named after his paternal grandfather, so this is a possibility.

Thanks for the information on Bambina's daughter I have to look into it further. I am still confused about the name Angiolina, because what I understand she is the daughter of Francesco Cianchetta by my grandfather's info, he may got confused then there is Angiolina as Domenick's wife :?

I believe there is a link with Domenick because most of the names I am looking for are there. Should I write to the Anagrafe Office of Sulmona and ask for the Stato di Famiglia :?:

I would like to find out more about Lucia Cianchetta, she didn't have a brother called Domenic it may have been her cousin. I have infomation she married a man by the surname Primiero had a few kids, later widowed returned to Sulmona not with all her kids. One Child remained in Chicago by the name Tonino Primiero. Who was his father? Is there a census to prove this fact from year 1913?

I found a Tonino in the Publics Record search but I would rather not post it on the board since it shows him still living. If you are interested I can PM the info.
