I need a little more help please.

Post by Cassandra1 »

I was inquiring about my ancestors recently, the Di Santo's if you remember and you all were very helpful. They are from Belvedere, Cosenza.

Since then I have found out alot. But the furthest I can get is that my great-great grandfather Francesco Martorello and his brother were abandoned when their parents moved to South America taking a little sister with them. I don't know their names.

I can't find any information on who my great-great grandmother Eleonora's parents were. They were Di Santo's.

How would I go about finding out what their names were if I can even do that? Also, Francesco was killed when a train backed over him. There was talk that it was intentional but there are no records that it was ever investigated. Would there be an obituary at all? The year was either 1912 or 1913.

Thanks for taking the time to read, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to obtain the death certificate so that you have a specific date of death:

http://www.idph.state.ia.us/eh/health_statistics.asp

http://www.idph.state.ia.us/eh/vital_re ... d_info.asp

the above links will give you further info on how to go about obtaining a record, as well as the years available.

Once you have located a specific date, you can then check for an obituary or newspaper article within that time frame.

There is also numerous microfilms available for Des Moines:

Hope this helps,
