Birth date, town of birth & arrival information (ship name, DOA, POD, POA)

Should I send a request for a birth certificate to the commune of Frisa since thats what the manifest lists?

No, not yet....Would 1st verify town information through naturalization record & death certificate. May also want to get SS application (cost is $27.00 with the number).

Other Information:
Giovanni's death info:
Name: Difresco John
Age: 52 y
Death Date: Oct 12 1948
Certificate #: 10158
County: Bronx

I don't know the exact date Giovanni and Sabina were married, but I know it was in New York sometime before their first son was born in 1929.

Names and birth/death dates of children:
John J DiFresco (my grandfather)
Born: 07 Jul 1929
Died: 08 Feb 1998

James DiFresco
Born: 20 Mar 1932
Died: 15 Aug 1990

Carolyn Teresa DiFresco (married surname: Serbia)
Born: 01 Apr 1936
Still Living

For the SS application:

Social Security Administration
OEO FOIA Workgroup
300 N. Green Street
P.O. Box 33022
Baltimore, Maryland 21290-3022

I think our professional genealogist, Trish, recommends three documents to verify information, but that is up to you.

Let us know when you have the town information verified & we'll help with next step.

How do I find out the Petition Volume for the naturalization form? I have the Petition Number and everything else, just not the volume.

Since the petition volume is not provided in the index, I would skip it & just give all the information you do have on the printable form.

Thanks for all the help. I'll definitely be requesting the death certificate as well as the naturalization record. Then hopefully I'll know the town for sure and can request a birth certificate.
