I'm looking for Bonini

Postby jlmb » 17 Jan 2007, 02:03

ok, first of all...this site is great!

Here's my story:

My great grandfather came with his father and brother to Panama to work on the construction of the Canal (they arrived around 1909). I've been told that everyone coming to panama to work on the canal had to pass through NY.

He was born around august 1891 in Genova, Pietro Bonini.
His father was Giovanni and Martino was his brother (at least that's way i've been told).

His full name was Pietro Bonini Pereri/Derine or similar.

His father died of malaria and his brother went to Brazil where my great grandfather (Pietro) visited him at least once (on the "Maria Trieste" but I haven't been able to found information about that boat).

I guess that's it, thanks for time.

Here's a Martino Bonini from Strambino... who's father is Giovanni...

1909 manifest

Driving map from Strambino to Genova.... maybe too far away??

http://www.mapquest.com/directions/euro ... va&2z=&r=f

The only ship that I can find that comes close to the one you mentioned is the Kaiserin Maria Theresia which leaves from the port of Genova (doing an Ellis boat search)...

What was Pietro's mother's name?

There's a Pietro Bonini who's birth year is about 1892... but from Barga... manifest is from 1913 though... mentions mother Assunta as next of kin.
Barga isn't too far from Genova...

Ana Pereri or Derine.
Would you mind posting this manifest too?

The Martino you posted is bonino not bonini.

Thanks Esperanza

Various changes to my story:

All I need is possible towns where he was born.

Pietro Bonini or Pietro Bonin
Father: Giovanni Bonini or Giovanni Bonin
Brother: Martino Bonini or Martino Bonin
Mother: Ana Pereri
Possible boat name: Lucia Trieste

Lets forget he was born in Genova

Hopefully someone will be able to provide valuable information.
Thank you very much in advance.

I'm looking for Bonini

Postby April » 16 Feb 2008, 15:32

Hello - I was just visiting the site because I'm looking for information on some of our relatives in Italy.

Their names are Pietro Bonin married to Anna Bonin (not sure of her surname) who died when she was around 20. They had three sons - not sure if they had any others but one of the sons name was Domenick Bonin born 9/13/1884 in Udine Italy. I have the sons names but will need to post that at a later date.

Domenick Bonin married Mary R Bonin (Codogno) born 9/7/1903 in either Udine or Vacile Italy. Her parents name was Pietro Codogno and Louise Codogno both born in Vacile Italy.

We are traveling to Italy in September and hoping to visit with some relatives or at least visit the town.

I am not sure where to start. I thought it was funny that most of the names on your post are very similar - but perhaps that is just how it was at that time in Italy.

Thanks for any Help.
