Can you help w/ Faustina Consani

Postby Nello-LosAngeles » 28 Jan 2007, 23:23

Hello,
I am looking for immirgation information on my materal grandmother.

Faustina Consani, birth: Feb 29, 1880, Motuolo, Lucca.

I have her passport which says she immigrated May 25 1907. We have not never been able to find any record of her immigration. In the '30's when she wanted to become a citizen. It was denied because they could not find a record of her entering the country. (Why the passport stamp wasn't enough I don't know.)
A few days ago I was visiting my mother (age 91) and she asked me to see what I could find. She then gave me a piece of paper that had a ship name.

La Lorraine della French line. Arrive NY 25 May, 1907.

Faustina was headed for either San Francisco or Bakersfield, Cailf.
She married July 7, 1907.

My mother would greatly appreciate this as would I.

Thanks,
Nello

I just want to clarify..Consani is her maiden name correct? What was the name of her spouse? Did she have a middle name or nickname that you know of? Do you know her mothers maiden name?

I am going through the passenger list for the ship you mention page by page and so far I don't see anything that might be her..maybe you could provide more info?

Yes, Consani was her maiden name. She married Pietro Del Carlo in Kern County Calif. shortly after arrival. The marriage was arranged by her brother who was already there.

Fauatina's mother's name was Dahlia Maraccini.

I am not aware of a middle name.

Nickname was "Bionda",-- Blonde

Validity of information. Date of arrival is in the passport.

The ship is questionable to me. I even wonder if she went on to San Francisco by ship if they that then.

thanks,
Nello

Nuccia,
Thanks for this. These are Faustina's brothers. Guiseppe was the one who arranged her marraige here. She was married by the 1910 census, but I was not able to find her there either. Her husband was Pietro Del Carlo. I find them in the 1920 census and her in the 1930 census ( husband died in '28), but not the 1910. Variations of the spelling of Del Carlo is part of the problem.

I just called my mother she says that Ann, as she recalls was the daughter of one of the brothers not listed there. Her memory for detail at 91 amazes me.

Thanks.
Nello

Hi Nello,

Thanks for the update. Since you have the 1920 Census, would you mind posting the test..I would like to see how its indexed/transcribed by ancestry..

Mis spelling of last names is often the big problem when it comes to finding ancestors.

As for Ann..we'll try to locate her...God Bless your mother. I have a great aunt who will be 94 this April 1 and I hope I have her memory(if I live that long). Tell her we will do our best to find the info she wants.

Hugs

Great find..the year of birth threw me off though. I also saw a WW1 Registration with the same spelling, but he claimed he was single and the year of birth again was off. Seen so many images its hard to remember now.

You are all absolutely amazing!

These are correct records.

Yes my mother, LIvia, and Mary (she is alive too) are twins, George was a younger brother who died at about 4 yrs old. Pilade was the older brother.

The 1910 census, with "Ginese' Del Carlo, I did not know him. Called my mother she said her father had bothers and cousins who came from time to time and eventually went to South America. She did not recognize the name. She said thank you and she will remember all of you in her prayers.

How you found the 1910 with that spelling is beyond my understanding.

Nuccia,
I am new at all this. I don't know how to "post a test" or what indexed/transcribed by ancestry means, but I'll learn.

We are fortunate to have the good genes of these hardy people.
Thanks,
Nello

Hi Nello..sorry..I meant text...nonna says I have quick figures (fingers..a private joke).

Anyways..it means the way ancestry shows the records..

ie:1910 United States Federal Census
about Tostini Bellardo
Name: Tostini Bellardo
[Tostini Dellardo]
Age in 1910: 30
Estimated birth year: abt 1880
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Wife
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Spouse's name: Pietri
Home in 1910: Township 12, Kern, California
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Female
Year of Immigration: 1907
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Pietri Bellardo 41
Tostini Bellardo 30
Ginese Bellardo 38

This is the text..the way which ancestry transcribed the record. There is a way on the page to send in a correction..you can comment and write out the way the names should be spelled. Its on the left hand side of the record. You may want to post a correction and within a few days they will add the correction to the body. If you have any trouble let us know and we will walk you through it. I'll use Ginese as the example (who b the way is listed as the brother...

1910 United States Federal Census
about Ginese Bellardo
Name: Ginese Bellardo
[Ginese Dellardo]
Age in 1910: 38
Estimated birth year: abt 1872
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Brother
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Home in 1910: Township 12, Kern, California
Marital Status: Single
Race: White
Gender: Male
Year of Immigration: 1905
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members:
Name Age
Pietri Bellardo 41
Tostini Bellardo 30
Ginese Bellardo 38
