Vincenzo Desiderio - need help, at dead end

Postby Rookie » 05 Feb 2007, 16:08

Hello-
I am new to this site and hoping to get some help-Here is what information I have and what I would like to find out. Believe me any help greatly appreciated:
My grandfather Vincenzo Desiderio was born May 10, 1882 in Chieti, Italy. His parents were Giuseppe Desiderio, age 23 at time of birth and Giulia Ferrara age 33 at time of birth. The family lived at No. 15 Larghetto Teatro Vecchio in Chieti.

Vincenzo was married Nov. 10, 1904 at age 22 to Alberina DiLabio age 19 in Bucchianico, she was the daughter of Spirilione DiLabio and Rosalinola Marino, they lived at No. 9 Via Santa Chiara, Bucchianico.

Vincenzo came to USA April 24, 1905, Alberina came Jan. 10, 1906 with 1st child Silva Giula born Aug. 27, 1905. Alberina traveled with Vincenzo's cousin Camillo Desiderio. Vincenzo & Alberina settled in Phila. Pa. for life.

Would like to find out if Vincenzo had any brothers or sisters, where and when Giuseppe and Giulia died and where buried and if address 15 Larghetto Teatro Vicchio is good and perhaps still in family. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Ed Desiderio

I believe you'll need to write to Italy and request a copy of the family certificate (certificato di stato di famiglia) which will detail place and date of birth and possibly date of death for each family member. Looks like you have the pertinent information required.

Can someone else verify and post a link to a form letter and appropriate address in Chieti to which this should be sent?

Hi there,

You basically can do your own research for Chieti has microfilm. The films cost $5.75 a roll. On the films you can find copies of the birth, marriage, and death records of the ancestors. Here is the link for the film numbers.

In case you want to write to Chieti directly, here is the address.

Ufficio Stato Civile
Comune di Chieti
Piazza V. Emanuele, 1
66100 Chieti CH
ITALY

There is film for Bucchianico, however, it doesn't go up to 1904 in order to get the married record of 1904 so you need to write to the town directly. Here is the address.
