Do you get an error message or image unavailable when you click on a name?

Or, are you requesting a look up and posting of the image. If this is the case, please provide first names and ages to make finding the correct family easier.

Actually I was hoping someone could look it up for me. The names should be Scalia, Sam, father, daughter Chiara about age 2, Caterina, wife, either Scalia or Mancuso for the last name.
Thanks.

I have no problem looking it up but I was wondering..where did you get this information from? Do you know for a fact that that is where the family was living in 1900 and those were the names used? What were the approximate birthdates and where were they born?

No I do not know for a fact, but its feasible they did. Actually they lived there until the 1960's and they were there in 1910. They all came from Termini Imerese, Sicily in 1899. I have a manifest with their names.
Chiara Scalia was born March 18, 1898. I believe her father was born in 1871 and not sure about her mother.
Thanks.

I think Chiara was not in Ohio in 1900. Could this be her ship manifest? I think you said you already have it but I'll post anyway for others to view..

Lists siblings..one of them is Cosimo who also happens to be on the death record above with Chiara. According to the manifest, Caterina was born about 1879.

Well, yes and no. This is what I do know. Chiara Scalia is on a manifest with Caterina Mancuso, on an 1899 manifest and then again on the 1907 manifest. Chiara Scalia was born in 1898.She was my grandmother. She married Anthony Rinella and they lived on Bowery Street, until my grandfather Anthony died in 1966. My grandmother's name, Chiara became Catherine here in Ohio. She died in 1983 in Lorain, Ohio.
According to the manifest, her mother, Caterina Mancuso, did not take have her married name of Scalia. I thought maybe that's because they used maiden names. However, I'm thinking that Caterina was not her mother even though we do have Mancuso's in the family. On the 1910 Census for Akron, Ohio, they lived on Bowery Street, but it just shows her father, Sam Scalia (my grandmother's father) and a couple of siblings. On sibling shows to be only 4 months old. That would mean her mother may have died within those 4 months. Then the 1930 Census shows Catherine Rinella (Chiara Scalia) and Anthony Rinella with their 3 children, Joseph, born in Canada 1915, Rose (my mother) born in Canada 1916 and Sam, born in Ohio 1920. I'm trying to figure ou how my mother and uncle ended up being born in Canada. And why my grandmother and her mother must have gone back to Sicily after 1899 and came back to the US again. Very puzzling. I also have not found any background on my grandfather.
Probably too much info here. Sorry - got carried away. They are all gone now so its hard to find anything.
Thanks for all your help though! :D

Jsks916,

Just a word of caution. Seems there are 2 different families living in the same county in the same ward in this 1930 census. Also similar names. Both have a daughter named Rose and a son named Joseph. Due to naming traditions the male head of families MAY have been brothers.

Make sure to check all documents you get that they pertain to the correct family. Also, there could be value in researching the other family also. You will gain info to help seperate them. May learn how they are related.

This is for the census record Nuccia posted.

Thank you Debbie! Thought I was losing it there!

On the link Jsks916 posted there are both a Scalia and Rinella family living on the same street.

The Catherine I found was born in 1891..the one Jsks916 Catherine was born in 1898....same Street, different addresses. !891 Catherine shows married but no sign of husband....

vj, Will read the other posts. Maybe it will be easier to sort through this after reading them. Lee...another mystery????

I believe that on 724 Bowery, there was an upstairs apartment that more family lived in. Scalia family first and then Rinella. Bonfiglio after that I believe.
