MARANO family

Postby vinx999 » 24 Mar 2007, 18:10

Two of my ancestors went to USA, at the end of XIX century or in the first half of XX: Giovanni and Nicola Marano, from Lioni or Montella, in the province of Avellino, Campania (region), South Italy; then my family lost touch with them; maybe, they worked in a bank in USA.
If your surname is "Marano", if you think that you have any ancestor with this surname, or if you have any useful new: contact me please!
I'm Vinx from Italy, sorry for my english!

If you can provide their approximate year of births or parents names it will help us help you better. Do you know where in the US they immigrated to?

Could this be the family?

On Decenber 3, 1903 this family arrived in the U. S. on "PALATIA" from Naples.

Filomena Moscariello , 47 years old (Mother)
Giovanni Marano, 9 years old (Son)
Amato Marano, 7 years old (Son)
Giocchino Carfagna, 23 years old (Cousin)
Carmella Carfagna, 21 years old (Cousin)

all from Montella, Avellino, and all went to meet (Husband, father, cousin) Nicola Marano at 139 7th Avenue, Newark, NJ

Thanks for your help!!
I'll ask my grandpa if "Carfagnas" are our relatives...
However, none here can say when they was born: in 1980 an earthquake destroyed the birth archives of their towns... I can't get any info about them.;((((

Have you visted a Family History Center?

Family History Centers in Campania, Italy
Napoli Italy
Corso Vittorio Emanuele 494
Villa Del Pino Fabbr. C
Napoli, Campania, Italy
Phone: 39-081-549-0012
Hours: W 18:00-20:00; Th 17:00-20:00

It appears they may have some records on microfilm from the
two towns you mentioned that you may want to order?
The value may depend on when they did the filming, or if
they had access to records that you may not have been able to
view?
