Chiulli Family

Postby tea4dee » 30 Mar 2007, 20:22

Hello, I am looking for my husbands italian family. His grandfathers name was Giovanni Natale Chiulli born 3/27/1890 immigrated to USA in 1900/1901. I believe his (Giovanni's) parents were Dominco and Elizabeth but I am not sure???? They were from Cugnoli. Any Info on this family would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Welcome to ItalianGenealogy!!

Are you looking for records in the US or Italy? What records have you obtained so far so that research is not duplicated?

Hi, so far I have looked in the US and all that I can find that is concrete is a 1930 US federal census, I think I may have found him in 1920 US census but not positive if it is him or not.. Im waiting for my father-in-law to send me a copy of his(my fahter-n-law) birth certificate. I know that when he arrived here his name was changed to John Chiulli. The closest I can come to as far as immigration records is a 3 yr old boy in 1903, we dont think that is the same one??? I would like to try and find them in Italy if at all possible....Thank You

Giovanni=John.....

First step is to obtain ALL USA documents....provide as much detail as possible so that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we have the right Giovanni/John......you are unsure of his parents name, how about siblings? Do you have any of their names? In which state did they reside?
Is he naturalized on the 1930 census? This is documentation you want to send for......

How about spouse and children.......no detail to small!! We can then work backwords and locate records for further leads.....

If that is the correct WW1 registration......look at the numbers next to mother and fathers name.....their ages perhaps????
Good clue when looking for records!!!
