Strambino LaSagna and Gillono Families

Postby mnjrush » 29 Apr 2007, 04:02

Both my grandparents and Great-Grandparents immigrated to the US (Chicago, IL area) from Strambino, Italy in the 1900-1920's. I am looking for information on the LASAGNA and GILLONO families from that area.

Thanks,

Mike Rush

Hi Mike Rush, My grandparents were Margarita (Garita) and Giavanni (John) Gillono from Strambino. They settled in the south side of Chicago in a neighborhood called Roseland. If you had a relative named Catherine or "Rina" Lasagna my grandparents knew her. I have 2 photos with her name on them. Janice Gillono

Just ran across this post!!

Catherine or 'Rena' was my mother. I have very little information on my Mom's side of the family other than my grandmother was Mart(h)a Gillono and my grandfather was Giovanni Battista LaSagna. Both emigrated to Chicago (Roseland) in the early 1920's. Any additional information would be great! I do have quite a few pictures of my Mothers family but I have no idea who they are of.

You can contact me direct at rush dot genealogy at cox dot net. Can't wait to hear from you!

Hi mnjrush,

The posts on this thread are about a year old so I hope the people keep checking back.

I found the ships manifest for your grandmother, I don't know if you already have it or not. I'll post it for reference. Looks like her fathers name was Giuseppe and still alive when she left Italy. One other person from Strambino and it looks like they were traveling together.
