Please, What is this first name in Italian?

Post by uther »

Alchemede. It was on the actual birth certificate at city hall for my grand uncle. Then his name was changed at baptism to John, with the birth certificate attached to the baptismal record. Is there another spelling for this first name ALCHEMEDE?

As she copied it from the record, she wrote Alchemede. We know that it could be mispelled as has been the case most of the time. Im trying to find a close alternate spelling though. No s on the end, but maybe the person writing it down originally interpreted it wrong. Maybe Archimedes then, is that Italian? :?

Checked ancestry.com for Archimedes, yes there
were Italians with that first name :D .
With and without the 's'
May be a 'regional name'. Valarie
