Angelo Pellecchia

Postby MEPellecchia » 27 Jun 2007, 23:35

My great grandfather emmigrated to the USA around 1884. Born 1854, I think. He may have been from Sant' Agapito. And I believe he departed from Palermo. I know he had three children after he arrived in the USA, named Patrick (Pasquale), Paul (Pauli) and Dominick. Looking for his parents names, brothers, sisters, and place of birth.

Census info...name was transcribed incorrectly:

1910 United States Federal Census

Name: Patrick Mellacchin
[Patrick Mellecchia]

Age in 1910: 20
Estimated birth year: abt 1890
Birthplace: Pennsylvania
Relation to Head of House: Son
Father's name: Angelo
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's name: Filimina
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Home in 1910: Philadelphia Ward 45, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Marital Status: Single
Race: White
Gender: Male

Household Members: Name Age
Angelo Mellacchin 54
Filimina Mellacchin 52
Dominic Mellacchin 24
Patrick Mellacchin 20
Paul Mellacchin 13

There is no naturalization info on Angelo or wife for this census....do you know if he naturalized? The naturalization records could help confirm place of origin, and depending on time frame, may reveal the names of parents.

Also, according to this census, wife has had 12 children, with only five living.

Wow. That was fast. Thanks.
I can confirm birth years for Dominico as 1886 and Patrick at 1890. I know Patrick is correct because I have my grandfathers information. This all came off of the 1920 Census.
For Paul, it said he was 34 years old, but that could be wrong, given all else is accurate.
I also understand from the 1920 census that Angelo Pellecchia was naturalized on 1898.
After I send this off, I am going to look under Mellacchin. I also found a mispelling on Ancestry.com of Polleschia. That is how I found my great grandfathers name to link it to my grandfather Patrick.
I am very encouraged to dig more thanks to you.

MEPellecchia
I have a copy of the birth index from Sant' Agapito 1854 which shows an Angelo Pellecchia being born to Pasquala and Concetta DiXXXXX (???) It is difficult to read.
If you are still looking, let me know and I will send you a copy.
This came from the LDS microfilms of Sant' Agapito.

Thank you so much for the offer. I would love to see this birth certificate. Is the LDS Microfilms of Sant' Agapito available to anyone to see or do you have to subscribe to a service. I want to expand my search in that small town to find other relatives.

Thanks again
