Do you mean Bari as a town of origin for your family or one of the towns in the Province of bari and what will you be seeking in this regard prior to going there, relatives, documents ??

www.tuttitalia.it/puglia/95-bari has listings for entire province. =Peter=

Hello Gary and everyone else,

I read your post about the Drinkwater's (Bevilaqua's) and it sparked me right away. Before posting I had to check with "Big Brother John" 1st to make sure I posted the correct info.

"LaBud, Frank Drinkwater (Bevilaqua) was the New England distributor for the Pepsi Cola bottling company. He married Ida Pasquale, Daddy's cousin. Ida's family lived in Wakefield and her father owned a market on Water street. Her brother, Louie Pasquale, took over the business after Frank passed away. Daddy always referred to them as his wealthy cousins in Lynnfield.

Now Ma called me to go to Frank Drinkwaters wake and all I remembered is that he loved horses because he had a diamond tie clasp on his tie with a picture of his racehorse. Their house was located on Walnut street in Lynnfield across from the entrance to the golf course. The garage was below the house, built into the side of a steep rock wall and it was a large sprawling brick house set up on the hill. Every room in that house had a door that led to the outside. Beautiful house.
Frank owned the Wakefield bottling company and was approached by Pepsi Cola to bottle for them. He became very very wealthy through a lot of hard work. He was a huge guy, round face and big jowls. Boy, did he ever love Italian Food. Great lovable guy."

Gary, I can still remember going to that house as a kid when my Dad would go to do work on the house for Frank. The highlight of our visit was all us kids going in and out of all those doors.
I remember there was always tons of Italian food at that house, no matter when you went there. Ida would always say,in case somebody stops by. (There was enough food for an Army  )

I'm not sure if this is part of the Drinkwater's (Bevilaqua's) you are looking for, but Gary, your post sure brought back a lot of happy memories for me.

Ciao, LaBud

Many thanks to all who have contributed to all this wonderful information. Putting the pieces back together has not been easy as I'm sure you all know.
LaBud, you are talking the Drinkwater language I know. Please call me at my store called Drinkwater's in Porter Square, Cambridge. 617-547-2067. When you have the opportunity to do so.

Hi VJ & Everyone,

I've been working on the genealogy of Torre le Nocelle and the Salvatore Bevilacqua shown in the passport app. was married to Maria Carmela Pizzano on 11 Feb 1888 in Torre le Nocelle.

Salvatore Bevilacqua was born 5 April 1859 in Torre to Alessandro and Maria Grazia Pizzano.

Maria Carmela Pizzano was born on 9 Jan 1865 in Torre to Salvatore Pizzano and Filomena Vesce.

Salvatore and Maria Carmela had at least two sons - Alessandro (1888) and Francesco (1890). I assumed both the boys were born in Torre as they were listed in an 1890's census, but their births never turned up in the Stato Civile ... so I guess it's possible they could have been born in Boston.

Salvatore Bevilacqua had six siblings: Beniamino (1858), Maria Cristina Aurelia (1863), Maria Serafina (1865), Giuseppe (1867), Federigo Virgilio (1869) and Roberto (1871)... no Silvestro.

Maybe Silvestro's name was transcribed incorrectly in the U.S. records and he's actually one in the same with Salvatore? If not ... it's a really spooky coincidence...

I agree if Silvestro and Salvatore aren't the same person it's an amazing coincidence.

You're very welcome. The folks on here have been a great help to me, so it feels nice to be able to give a little bit back when I can. :D

Also interesting to note is that Gary said his Sylvester was a marble worker, which matches up with Salvatore's stated occupation on the passport app.

For anyone else that might have ancestors from Torre, here's a link to the Stato Civile acts that have been transcribed so far.

Hello LaBud,

I saw your post from July of this year about Frank Drinkwater from Lynnfield who owned the Elk Sprin Bottling Plant that made Pepsi Cola and my curiosity got the best of me. I am Frank Drinkwater's grand daughter and I grew up in the Lynnfield house that you described on Walnut Street. You described my Grandfather perfectly. From your post, I gathered that you had visited us and that your father had done work at the house. You also mentioned my Grandmother, Ida, but her name was actually Olga. She was the daughter of Dominic Pascuale from Prezza, Italy. I know quite a bit about the family history as I spent many years with relatives in Rome and the Pascuale history dates back over 400 years in Prezza. I would very much like to find out who your father was and how he was related to my Grandmother, Olga. I can give you a lot of information on the family history.

I am the grandson of Carol Drinkwater. Her father was Ben Drinkwater the brother of Frank. I also have been doing a lot of research on the family tree. I’ve been trying to gain Italian Citizenship by decent.
