Ettore Petruzzini

Postby LvItalian1979 » 10 Jul 2007, 03:25

I am trying to find out information my great grandfather. His name was Ettore Petruzzini. He was born in 1889 in Ascoli Satriano, Italy. He came through Ellis Island but I can't find any ships logs with his information on it. I found my great grandmother, her name was Michelina Loporchio born 1891 in Ascoli Satriano, Italy. She came over a different time then him. I am also trying to find out if he was naturalized and if he was when.

"For naturalizations prior to 1878 (when what is now Lackawanna County was part of Luzerne County), contact the Prothonotary’s Office at the Luzerne County Courthouse. They have an index to naturalization records for Luzerne County from 1830-1906 and 1912-1944.

If you find your ancestor in the index you then need to send a request to the National Archives, Mid-Atlantic Region in Philadelphia (see address to obtain a photocopy of the original record. Researchers can also visit the National Archives to conduct their own research.

Here's the address of National Archives in Philly should you need it.

BTW, I was born and raised in Carbondale PA, and my Mom's from Plains. Her parents Luigi Tardio and Venernada Del Giudice were also from Foggia (San Marco in Lamis).

Hello,
if you want to have his birth certificate or record you can write in italian to

Comune
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via Torre Arsa, 3
CAP 71022
Ascoli Satriano (FG)
Italy

or you can rent Ascoli Satriano civil record microfilm to FHL (mormon church) in order to see and print his real birth record

ASCOLI SATRIANO CIVIL RECORD MICROFILM

or you can send a request, in order to have his real birth record to

ARCHIVIO DI STATO DI FOGGIA

I hope it helps

Wow! All of you did so much for me. I am in tears because of all the information you all have uncovered and the correct path to take to get my Italian Citizenship. From the looks of it my grandmother was born while my great grandfather was still an alien. My grandmother is Mary Jane. Thank you all again for your hard work.
