Family photos

Postby lynnef » 02 Aug 2007, 20:53

This may be a long shot, but does anyone know if there are any sites where I can find old photos of my ancestors...in Italy and America? I have yet to locate any old photos of my grandmother and her family (mother, father, and siblings). I'll be checking with my aunts and uncles (my grandmother's sons and daughters) to see if they have any in their possession, but was thinking ahead as to whether the Internet had any websites that showed old photos that one could purchase, etc. Thanks in advance for your help. :) (Yes, again, I know this is probably a very long shot, but...) I've seen recent (from the 1970's and up until 1988 when my grandmother passed on) photos, but none from way back when.

There are pics of my grandparents on their citizenship papers from the 1930s. If this fits your situation, perhaps you can send away for their papers. Did they go to school in the US? Ancestry.com has some old yearbooks online. You can even look in your local libraries for yearbooks.

Speaking of yearbooks, this is a neat link!!!

found a yearbook for one of my husbands town of interest, but it was 10 years to late for the ancestor in question....... :?
Still....maybe someone will find something of interest to them.

Thanks, wldspirit and Poipuo4, for your replies. I'll definitely be sure to check these sites out. (Wouldn't it be fun if I did find a pic or two of my ancestors? Never say never...)! :)

Your post led me to think that maybe I could locate some yearbooks on Ebay for the towns and dates for some ancestors of mine.....lo and behold I found a yearbook for 1931 for the high school my grandmother attended!!

Sure will be neat to see what she looked like in high school!!!!!

Thanks Lynn and Poipuo for getting the wheels turning!!!
