Valeria the link did work for me but I wasn't able to magnify but I realized that was an error on my part, I got it to work and was able to read it. Am I right in assuming the niece was held not Anna or were they both held for inquiry? Also how does one find out what the codes mean for the reason they were held?
You are a wealth of knowledge.
Thank you,

Melina,
We all get a real kick out of helping -
it's a team effort building on each other's
finds!
I'll link a couple of neat sites for
reading manifests to this post in a second.
The designation for both was LPC =
'likely public charge'. They may have had
to wire for a ticket to Providence.

You guys are simply amazing, I can't believe it! What a rush!!!!
I have often searched and been ready to give up, what a great help you have been and then some!

My father is going to be very excited. I don't know if either of you read the story about his father never seeing his half brother from (I guess 1916) to the 1950's when they moved to Canada and someone came and told him they saw an Edgidio Lalli in the New York area, they put my grandfather on a train and sent him with a note in hopes of finding his long lost brother. They met and kept in touch, visited even though my grandfather spoke italian and he only spoke a bit of Italian. In the end they died @ 40 days appart in 1980. Seperated for at least that long in years. We are very close to his family I will send them the info too. Thank you so much again,
You are both very helpful. Valeria mentioned being a volunteer, how does that work?

Biff, and Valeria,
I just read the draft card, Maria di Marzo would have been his mother in Campobasso, Maria Giovanna Di Marzo was her maiden name, she married his father and then my great grandfather Gennaro Maucieri.

Wow, yipee!!!!

Hi Biff,
I just called my Dad he lives about 1 1/2 away from me. I told him what you both found for me. He is excited but confused as his father always said that they left in 1913, but he might have been wrong. The second Egidio you found doesn't seem to be the one related to ours right now. Ours only had one daughter, Jean and she is married in the US with her grandchildren and children close by. Her father married in the US too, according to Dad, Edgidio went to the US and never went back to Italy again.

Thank you so much for the info you have found, if you come across anything for Gennaro again please let me know. If I can push further I believe my great great grandfather also came to theUS, his name was Matteo Maucieri and he was born in 1838. I haven't found anything yet, his wife's name was Rosa Martinelli and prior to my finds we only knew about Gennaro but I have since found another son, Giuseppe Antonio, 1869 and Maria Michele 1872, the first Maria Michele was 1871 but I believe she passed away.

Thanks again,
Melina
