My mather, Vittani Vincenza was born in Rome Sant' Anna hospital via Arno 90 (then called Istituto Opera Pia) the 19 of July 1932 from mather that wished not to be mentioned on the birth documents.
After the birth, she was registered by a lady called Camilla Kutter who might have been a midwife or a friend of the family. Was then taken to the orphanage of Rome (Santo Spirito) and from there was given to a wet nurse near Rome .
After a few years I happened to look through an old registry of the orphanage where I found the name of a lady called Anna Bravar linked with my mather's name.
Anna Bravan could have been the name of my mather's mather or simply an employee of the orphanage.
Dear friends, if these names and dates bring up any memories, please do not esitate to contact me.
My search is simply driven by a human desire to know the origins of my family.
Thank you
Giuseppe

Re: born in Rome the 19 July 1932
Hi Rufinigi
I looked in the telephone directory for Kutter in Rome and there are no listings, however there was one listing for Bravar -
Bravar Mirella
00159 Roma (RM) - Via Federico Verdinois, 10
06 4073125
Maybe this could be a relative of the Bravar you speak of. You might try calling to see if they have information.

rufinigi, please explaine better this:
"After a few years I happened to look through an old registry of the orphanage where I found the name of a lady called Anna Bravar linked with my mather's name."
what you mean with" linked" you have a copy of this? you can post it here? this link was abt a visitor, or a relative or different?
it is very strange that the 2 women had surname no most italians... but from Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Switzer. ,( Kutter) and Croatia, or Trieste/Italy, area near Croatia (Bravar)....
the Kutter that was in Rome ( 1900/20) was german peoples...
normally the name on the birthact, in this cases, it is abt the midwife....
regards, suanj

rufinigi...
in this your italian message:
http://forum.alfemminile.com/forum/adop ... a-mal.html
you said that the old paper above mentioned, was a baptism act, and the Anna Bravar was, maybe, the godmother.... yes, very probably... so to find Anna Bravar cannot help... because if this name was on the baptism act, sure it is the godmother.....
the only chance is to find, if possible(!) the hospital documents abt the hospitalizing of a woman, pregnant, in the day/s of Vincenza birth...
regards, suanj

The registry I was talking about was an old book with a long list of children sorted by births year, in alphabetical order. I am not sure if it was an old registry book but surely not a baptism act. beside each child's name , there was un'ather name and The name found beside my mather's name was Bravar but there was no indication of who that woman could be. That's what I meant by linked. I haven't got the document because the book could not be photocopied or removed from the orphanage.
As you mentioned, Kutter could have been the midwife . and you,re right there no Kutter in all italian territory. there was a Kutter Maria Lidia Camilla in rome 13 years ago, which I didn't contact, Silly thing to do, or not do, who seem to be vanished nowadays.
I cannot access the the document regarding my biological gran mather because of the privacy law as the birth certyificate state that my mother was given birth by a woman that doesn't want to be named. Besides I am not the adopted child, therefore information that could have been released to my mother, couldn't be released to me .
Very tough search but I will get there.

Re: born in Rome the 19 July 1932
I believe that you search could start from the Giuliano-Dalmati association in Roma, near Eur quarter http://www.giuliano-dalmata.it/visite.htm because the surnames in your mother story are of this provenience, but only to say that you are searching a Anna Bravar resident in Rome in the 1930/2.. if she was, however in the next day a associated of this community( really the community was resident in Rome from WWII, but is is possible that this woman already was resident before....
just a suggestion, because for the current laws, it is no possible to have access to records... regards, suanj
