I believe this ships manifest is close to the info for Maria Donata. Shows the last name as Varlotta. Look on line 19 of the manifest. Says she's going to her brothers in Providence, RI.

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipM ... 0169%2ETIF

Also, if you contact the funeral home, they will have listed her parents full names and her husbands full name in their records. That is how I got alot of my information for my own search.

Good luck in your search.

Thabks for all.
Elisabeth, I don't think it's her, because, she don't come from this part of the Basilicata (Atella), she come from the east part.

This funeral home is only about 5 minutes from where I live. What did you need to know? I can make a call after work today if you like tothe funeral and request info if you tell me exactly what you want to know.

Let me know.

Thanks Nuccia. I want to know principaly where she is died precisely (town, or street) or where the funerals took place and eventually know if she had relatives with her in Canada (from instance people who phone the funeral home to advertise her of the death). Any informations will be welcome.

Nuccia can you please check this out. Line 8 is Maria Donata and she is traveling with her mother line 7 whose name is Serifina Anable? and her sister on line 9 is Anna Maria. So for the manifest Maria's last name is listed as Anable which is not correct, should be her fathers surname. It also says they are going to Serifina's son's - Vito Antonio.

Maybe this can help you find a census that would give the fathers surname.

Hang in there Antonio, I'm still looking!

Do you know your great grandmothers maiden name? If not, what was her married name? And did your great grandmother come to America?

The maiden name of Maria Donata was Paolucci (o Palucci). She was the daughter of Donato-Antonio e CIOLA Maria

Antonio

Maria Donata did die in Toronto on July 1 1973. The funeral waas at Bernardo Funeral home and she was buried at Holy Cross Cemetary Section 10 Lot 40. The director was very nice but would not release the maiden name to be or the informats name although you may wish to write a letter. Since you are family they dhould release it to you.

Meanwhile, I'm going to attempt to call the Cemetery and see if they will give me more info. I'll keep you posted.

Well..they had also another person with a similar name buried in 1996 so the clerk is checking using the info the Funeral Parlor gave me to see where exactly is her plot, who is buried near her and any other info they can find. Hopefully we can get somewhere using this method.

I wonder if you might also consider writing away for the death certificate. Not sure what they will release but its always worth a shot. Of course, unlike Italy, they will charge for this info.

Another area to consider is writing away for the Social Insurance Number Application. I'll poke around and see what I can find while I wait for the call back.
