Help with 1920 and 1930 census

Postby BillieDeKid » 14 Sep 2007, 02:43

I was wondering if anyone can find a 1920 census and 1930 census for me. I'm looking for Giovanni Tassone (I already have the manifest). He came through Ellis Island in 1920 he was abt. 28, born abt 1892 - changed his name to John A. Tassone. He was married to Camilla Rizzo born 1889, she did not travel with him in 1920 although they were married she came in 1930.

For 1920 he could have been in Newark, NJ or with his brother Dominic (Domenico) in Ishpeming, MI. For 1920 and 1930 places may have been Kinzua, PA Morrison, PA (I don't think it exists anymore) , Brooklyn or Warren, PA

If he was staying with other people the last names could have been Tassone, Tassoni, Tasone, Rizzo or Mangiardi.

Hope someone can help me out.

Thanks

Elizabeth

Oh sorry vj - I already have the ships manifest, he came in 1920 with my grandmother and my uncle. But I'll take a look at your manifest, you never know he may have made a couple of trips.

suanj's draft reg. was right on the money.

Thanks for all your help

WOW vj!!!!! It's him again. This is great it solves some of the mysteries for me. By the way, where did you get the information about him being at that address from 1920/27 and the note about wife and children heading to PA in 1930?

Thanks to you and suanj for all your help.

Hey Elizabeth!

By the way, where did you get the information about him being
at that address from 1920/27

based on his 1928 manifest - he was in NY 20/27
his 'home' is listed as 134 Nostrand, but that would only
be as of the date of the manifest or Oct 1927 when he
left...

and the note about wife and children heading to PA in 1930?
my 'note' was from what I read on their 1930 manifest
second page, that's also where I noticed he had a two year
old daughter

I checked Ginzna (spelled wrong on ancestry) for 1930 -
can't find him there or in Warren or McKean counties in PA.

vj would it be possible for you to post the 1930 manifest, if it's not too much trouble? I've never seen it before.

Thanks

Elizabeth, suanj, pink & all,
More clues & a possible contact?
Valarie

from 2005...

BRICK WALLS
I am searching for photographs of Morrison, Pa.
This was in McKean County before the Kinzua Dam.
My mother (known as Jenny Tassone) lived in Morrison, PA from 1930-1946.
Her parents were John and Camilla Tassone.
My mother said that their was only a row of factory houses in Morrison at the time.
Her father worked at the asbestos plant in Morrison, Pa.
After attending grade school in Morrison in a one room school my mother attended
Beatty School in Warren, PA for a short period.
Then she went to Ludlow High School.
She graduated from Ludlow HS in 1947.
Today my mother (Jenny Tassone DeMarco) ...
For the past year, I have been working on a family genealogy project.
I do have a few photographs of my mother standing in front of the family home in
Morrison(during the 1930s and 1940s).
Do you know where I could obtain additional information about Morrison, Pa
and photographs.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you! Diane DeMarco

Hi vj,

Diane is my cousin (a bit distant, but still my cousin). Her grandfather John A. Tassone is the one that came on the ship with my grandmother and uncle. I have the LDS films for the town where they came from and have gotten some information for her, as we were emailing each other a few evenings ago, she told me she was curious where he lived in 1920 when he came etc. before her grandmother and children came in 1930 - That was the reason for my post.

I have forwarded all the info that everyone provided, she was shocked that her farther registered for WWII since he was born in 1892!! So it was a nice surprise for her and her mother.

Thanks again to everyone for all of your help.

Elizabeth
