Badia family

Post by peterbadia »

I am looking for Badia family that came to the US in the early 1900's
I have the following names: Pietro Badia born 1894 his wife Rosina Marinelli. His father Donmeico born 1853, his father was Sabatino Badia.
I'm new at this so just getting started if anybody knows anything it would be very nice. Thanks

Thanks you very much for the reply. you have the correct names. my Father name is Albert F. and that is my grandfather Pietro. I was looking for any info from someone in Italy. I though that this web site was there.
I have been trying to go further back, but keep getting stuck at my grandfather. no other infor can be found, by me anyway. I know that there is more, I just dont know where to go.. Thanks Pete

You now know (if you didn't before) the town in Italy Pietro came from. The Mormon church has the civil records for Barisciano. Here is the link.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... umns=*,0,0

You can order the microfilm, and research the family in Italy.

If you want to research the Badia family still in Barisciano, here is another link.

Dear OPete bring along a magnifying glass and a book titled Discovering your Italian Ancestors which is a companion book for the microfilms since the records are all handwritten from 1809 to 1910 and will assist you greatly.=Peter=

You can't actually view the records on line. You have to go into your nearest Family History Center and order the microfilm. It costs about $6. per roll and takes 3 to 4 weeks to get it. I am posting the link to the town records so you can copy or print out the numbers of the films you want. I don't know where you are located, but the FHC which are usually attached to the Church of the Latter Day Saints are alll over the world. Their hours are sometimes limited because they are staffed by volunteers.

Call before you go because the hours sometimes change.
