Naples archives

Postby gervasius » 14 Jan 2008, 08:07

Hello:

I am considering traveling to Naples to do research on my family. The archives have census records from the mid 18th century for the villages where my ancestors lived (Bisaccia, Calitri, San Lupo, San Lorenzo maggiore, Cerreto Sannitica....). I am wondering if anyone has ever done research there and if it was difficult obtaining needed documents.

Is there an email address where I can inquire further about their services and what sort of documents they have ?

Thanks,
Jason

The website for the Archivio di Stato is http://www.archivi-sias.it/
From research I have done in Italy (not Naples) census records are held in the town anagrafe offices not in the State Archives.

See the posts under Military records Naples State Archives. It looks like you won't get access until they are finished working.
