Hi Jo

There are films for Sortino, Siracusa, Sicily you can order from LDS for civil records that cover 1820 to 1929 (birth, death, marriage etc.)
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... o+civile++
Find your local Family History Center (FHC)
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp

Films cost about $5.50 USD per film and take about 4 weeks to receive.
Write down the film numbers you'd like to view and go to your FHC to order.

Hope this helps

Regards,
elizabeth

Hello:

My maiden name was Piraneo, and my relatives are also from Siracusa, Sicily. My grandfather's name was Carlo (Charles) and his wife was Rosa. Both from Siracusa. Their childrens' names were Anna, Margie, Sal, Sebastian, and Carlo (Charles, my father). They all settled in the Bronx many years ago.

I had stumbled upon your post by doing a web search on my maiden name. I think perhaps we are related.

I have forwarded the post to my twin sister who knows much more about our ancestry.

I also emailed you this same post.

Let me know if you receive this!

Linda Piraneo Hoffman
