Marchione/Laurentini

Postby Tomo » 31 Jan 2008, 20:58

Thanks to lots of you, inc Ann Tatangelo I am finally succeding in tracing my family from Sora Italy, and particular success on the Laurentini branch.

I have also found and met a lost relative in England, his name on this forum being Lockmaster. We met up and shared information, and realised we had common friends - small world huh!
However, I can't get a fix on my G Grandfather Salvatore Marchione who married my G Grandmother Carolina Laurentini in 1909 in Birmingham England. The only fact I know for sure is the wedding in 1909, when he was 25, and his death record in England
The family always believed he was from Sora, but records suggest not. although he was definately from Frozinone, possibly towards Monte Casino. He was also one of 9 or so brothers and sisters!
I am sure also that for the 1914 -1918 war he returned to Italy to fight for Italy (as you know the Italians were fighting FOR the Allies in that war).

Does anyone have ideas to trace Salvatore Marchione?

Thanks in advance
Steve Thompson

Hi Steve,
What are the names of his brothers and sisters? Maybe Salvatore was registered under two names, did he have another name?
Do you have his registration record from WW1?
Do you have his parish church marriage record?
Did he come to England BEFORE he was 21 years old? If not then he would have served in the military in Italy before he emigrated.

Ann,
No the information is very limited.
I have a copy of the Wedding Cert, where he names his father as Anthony (I assume Anthonio) and occupation Farmer.
He is not mentioned in the 1901 English census, well not any spelling that is close.

Dear Tomo the paying site www.findmypast.com provides for some free information which may be of interest to you. A cursory check disclosed that salvador (salvatore) Marchione is listed in the 1861 census. Additonal information is paid for on a case by case basis.=Peter=
