Surname help

Postby AtomHeartDuck » 05 Feb 2008, 22:53

Buon giorno

I've just recently begun a quest to find where my ancestors hailed from and have a question regarding the family surname: Locanthi. I know that "th" existed in Latin but was replaced by the simple "t" in Italian, but is "th" still a part of any regional dialects or other languages spoken in Italy?

If it helps, my great-grandfather was born in Marseilles, France but, according to various records, his parents were both born in Italy. Could the name have been warped by the short stay in France?

Thanks in advance
:D

Dear atomheartduck the surname does exist in france and in the USA. Go to www.familyserach.or and under ancestor search put in Locanthi and nothing else. =Peter=
