My dead ends on Rubino. Baglio, Latino, Brunesti, Laduca

Postby Jrubino5280 » 17 Feb 2008, 05:56

Hi All

Farthest back on Rubino I am is my great grandfather Philip (Filippe) 02/25/1895-08/26/1928. He was married to Jennie Latino 1899-1993.
He supposedly had unlces. First named Toto (Antonio or Salvatore). Toto supposedly went to Mexico and got caught up in some riff raff and went back to Palermo. THe other unlces are Bastiano and possibly Simoni. My grand father's name is Simon. I have no clue about his parents. My grandfather's memory is pretty fuzzy these days.

Farthest on Baglio is Ignazio Baglio born about 1840. Mother's name may be Barbara Labello. Wife was Mary Padre???? Possible Padrenochio. Ignazio is my dad's Great Great Grandfather.

Farthest back on Latino is Francesco Paul 1835 & Anna Giacinta Billetti 1844. THey were the parents of Bernardo Latino, my dad's great grandfather. He came to the US in 1900.

Farthest back on Brunesti is Antonio Brunesti about 1840 and his wife Marie Rose 1856. (my dad's great grand parents on his mother's side)

Farthest bank of LaDuca is Russolino (aka Anthony) 1827 and Josephine Siragusa 1834 or 1840. He was also married to Carmella, who died.

Trouble is most of them didn't come over. All born in Sicily except Brunesti. They are from Calabrea. Some traveled back and forth.

I'm totally frusterated. I worked on my sister in laws tree (she's pretty English) and in 2 days got back in the 1200's.

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Hi Jennifer,

Was your family from the comune of Palermo in the province of Palermo or were they from a different comune in the province of Palermo?

The Province. There were several areas of Palermo they were from. Jennie Latino was born in Corleone. I found her in the LDS database but I had good info on her already. On the Rubino side, Simini Rubino wrote a letter to Jennie Latino in 1946 with a return address of Vicolo Zisa No 51, Palermo Sicilia.
I have a Baglio from San Cataldo, Caltanissetta, Sicily, Italy.
In gereneral most records just say "Sicily" or "Palermo" but nothing super specific.
