Raso

Postby jmd0727 » 22 Feb 2008, 19:15

hi everyone I am looking for any kind of information on my Great Great
Grandmother. Her name was Gregoria Raso but people called her Sallie. She was born on 6/14/1895 in Sicily....I believe Sciacca. Her mothers name was Acusia Raso but I believe her maiden name might have been Marchese. Gregoria father passed away in Sicily....his name was William Raso but not sure his real italian name was William. Gregoria came over to the US with her sisters Maria and Domencia and her mother. They came to the US Norristown Pa in 1905 on the Vincenzo Florio. There she married Vincenzo DiCarlo. Her sister Domenica married a Vincenzo Marchese and her other sister Maria married a Mario Diliberto. Any information would be great......thanks

It is interesting that Gregoria's mother has the same first name, Accursia, as appears in the DiCarlo family. Perhaps they were cousins? They were going to Gregoria's brother, Mario.

Accursia's last name looks like Marchesi

I think you should look at some of these records. The names appear over and over. It might be fun to sort it out. 8)

Hi JMD

Here is a link to a site for Sciacca. All of these people, like you are researching their families. The first person on the list is also researching the Raso family and she has included her email address. Thought you might like to take a look.

hmmm...
I found by familysearch a:
-Gregorio RASO(son of Giuseppe RASO and Maria AMODEO;right name: Anna Maria AMODEO) born in Sciacca in the 1854, married in Sciacca the 12 NOV 1881 at Accursia MARCHESE born in Sciacca in the 1865..... (maybe: 19 FEB 1865 - Sciacca; parents: Pasquale MARCHESE and Domenica BELLANCA OR BELLAMA -right spell: BELLANCA OR BELLOMO)
it could be your ancestors?

that for that info I guess they could all be related....but I have Accursia being born in 1866....do you have a death date for Gregorio?

How can I confirm that they are indeed related to me?
