IAPPINI/PANBIANCHI

Postby faegirl » 26 Feb 2008, 02:06

Hi there,
I've hit a huge brickwall in my Italian ancestors and am looking for some help.

The surnames I am searching for are:
IAPPINI, I can go as far back as my great grandfather's parents (Macedonic IAPPINI and Giovanna LAMORETTI) but I'm not sure where besides Parma because their children list different places of birth (Canetalo and Corniglio).

On the PANBIANCHI side:
I have my great grandmother's parents as being Sante PANBIANCHI and Filomena SIDOLI (she was alive until the 1940s, but I'm not sure after 1941 specifically). One of their daughters listed Piacnesa as being her birthplace.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!
Surnames: IAPPINI, PANBIANCHI

Hi and welcome to the forum, :D

Are you looking for information just from Italy or the US as well? Do you have Ellis Island info and census records? If you can be a little more specific about the info you need as well as names and dates, someone here will be able to help you.

Ciao Faegirl!

only a litle note:

Corniglio is a Comune of the Parma Province:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corniglio

But Canetalo Doesn't exist.... I think the correct name is Canetolo and it's an hamlet of Corniglio.....

IAPPINI is very rare surname, if you try to search this las name in this site:
http://italia.indettaglio.it/ita/cognomi/cognomi.html

in the Emilia Romagna Region, you'll see there are only a few....
3,88 Corniglio Parma
2,37 Parma Parma

Thanks, Laura.

According to the naturalization papers I have, they came through Boston and not Ellis Island. But the trail ends in the 1890s.

hi Jocelyn,

The Family History center have Microfilms for Corniglio and Canetolo:

Topic Italy, Parma, Canetolo - Civil registration

Titles Registri dello stato civile di Corniglio (Parma), 1784-1910 Corniglio (Parma). Ufficio dello stato civile

Have you already searched in the microfilms?

Hey cousin,
I have Giovanna Lamoretti in my genealogical tree. Her full name was Giovanna Morellina Lamoretti and she was born in Corniglio on June 17, 1847.
Here's the reference:
- Giovanna Lamoretti (n. 17/06/1847), figlia di Giovanni e Garbi Maria Domenica, diede alla luce da padre ignoto un figlio, Antonio, nato il 21/07/1866. Qualche tempo dopo (precisamente il 02/07/1869) sposò Iappini Macedonio di Pietro Antonio da Canetolo, già vedovo di Riboli Maria.
Translation: Giovanna Lamoretti (b. 06/17/1847), daughter of Giovanni and Maria Domenica Garbi, gave birth from an unknown father a boy, Antonio, b. 7/21/1866. Some time later (07/72/1869) she married Macedonio Iappini, son of Pietro Antonio, from Canetolo, who was a widow of Maria Riboli.
If you are interested, I can send you her full genealogical tree (in Italian), that starts in the 1500 -- just send me an e-mail at mariamarta. lamoretti at gmail

I am not involved in this particular search but must ask pink67 (very obviously a master!) how they were able to find records so mis-spelled? If you would be kind enough to share your tricks with others, we might have more success ourselves. I have read just about every genealogy entry on this Forum and am "always" amazed at the skills of these very generous researchers.

Thank you :)

Thank you very much Qnana for your nice words!
But, believe me...I don't have particular tricks to share ... I think that maybe it's just because I'm italian and It may be easier for me to "understand" the mispellings and "guess" their real spells.
Sometimes for an italian for example, it's easy to understand just only from a first name or a last name if we're talking about south of north of Italy...
Sometimes it happen to me to have some lucky "special intuitions" that I can't explain to myself too... 8O
... For sure I'm "obstinate" and this can help a lot
Thank you...
Laura :D
