the info avail is my grandfathers name was Pietro La Placa. His wife was Antonine Miceli. When they left Italy they had one 1yr old son< Joseph Peter La Placa. Their names were changed to La Place when they entered the U. S. Not their choice.

We understand that Pietro had been the secretary to the Sec. of State of Italy at one time. Actually Joseph was born in Tunisie in 1898 while his father served there.

We would love any family history from Italy. We have no contacts in this country as all are passed and the records that were promised to us never showed up.

I think this might be Antonina's manifest. She is traveling with children Giuseppe, Salvatore and Rosalia, meeting husband Pietro in NY.

The baptism record matches te information that we have but Pop never mentioned Salvatore or Rosie. We always understood he had two sisters,
one I knew, Marie. There was a sister Mary and brother Frank.

Interesting.

Thanks for the info. Is there a way of getting birth records, sibling information, etc. from Italy.

We are sure there were brothers to Pietro as he often mentioned cousins.

Sorry, just noticed the year of immigration is not correct. They immigrated in 1900 or 1901. I guess the dates on the census could be off but the baptism has to be corredt.

At the bottom of the baptism the stamp date is 1958. I am guessing this is the date they were requested by Joseph La Place.

Actually I am typing this for my husband. he agrees that this is the correct information. He added that as a young teen he met an uncle Sal. He added that he had a younger cousin Rosie. All ties in together.
Thanks again.
