My grandfather and grandmother immigrated to the US in the early 1900's...my grandfather (Franco Antonio Agazio) entered through Canada somewhere around 1900 , and my grandmother (Marietta Rota) in 1912 we think through Ellis Island...although I can't find her in the Ellis Island database. I do not know where in Italy they came from, however I have sent away for their naturalization paperwork and hope to get that info soon. I've been told that my grandmother was a mail order bride and would like to know if anyone else have found this type of thing.
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks

Arranged marriages were performed when both parties were present. There was no such thing as a "mail order bride " from Italy. If marriages were arranged and both parties were single then she would have been accompanied to the USA and married here in a religious ceremony. Civil marriages may have been performed with a stand-in representing the husband so that she could obtain documents. File form 81 with NARA go to www.genealogylookups.com/narchives.htm for her arrival and www.archives.ca for grandfather's arrival in canada. Peter
