So many thanks..where are you guys finding all this !!!!
Your like private investigators. So what do you think...they all
must be related, its not like there were a bunch of Chiapannos
in Alameda county in the 1920s..or were there ????

Mostly searches on various spellings of your surnames.
On manifests - check to see if they're leaving or joining
family members that you know are related to you.
Hard to tell with all the misspellins exactly how many
relatives you have between San Francisco & Alameda
County

Is it odd to anyone else? So many young females heading from the same town at the same time to the States... many being dress-makers/seamstresses? There's a story in there... keep those other names handy...

I think this could be another interesting arrival manifest:

Maria Chiappano from Varzi (Pavia), arriving in New York on 1911....
Going to New York, but the Naturalization mark on her name is:
22 - 121454? - 4/19/42?
The first number 22 is the Naturalization District number for San Francisco CA....
I can't read well but it seems also he was leaving in Italy her brother Andrea in Varzi....

Could be another Chiappano sister?

Ok so in the manifest it states she is a married housewife in 1911, but in my grandfathers manifest in 1910 visit it states he is single.

No mistake..it says she is single...but yet a housewife..oh boy.
that must mean she had no skills. so between 1911 and 1916 (the birth of her first child) she must have gotten marreid to Charles

In her case her cousin may not have been able to meet her,
so they called her brother Luigi.

Wow thats terrible to come all this way and the person that is suppose to be there isnt..is that the case...did it have to be a relative to pick you up?? Was Luigi her brother for sure???

She would be released only when the officials were sure
she would be taken care of.
Since it didn't have to be a relative, Luigi is probably her
brother.
It didn't take long, if you read across she was released
on the 6th after eating one meal.

Note: if this is the correct Luigi, born abt 1860, he may have
been her brother or uncle (McDougal St matches detained page)
