I just spent several hours inputting all the information on Family Tree Maker. Also located some of my father's sibs on the SSDI. It seems that the original spelling of Terracciano was not sacred. They used different versions of the name even on S.S.
The SSDI gave me date of death for several of my aunts and uncles, mainly uncles. I would like to send for the SS-5 for several of them to be sure it is the right person and also to see if I can glean more info. That's how I found out his parents' names. Prior to that I only had very vague memories.
Now, have you located your ancestors? Are both sides Calabrese?
Is your signature dialect? What exactly does it mean?

Re: Looking for Terracciano relatives from Pomigliano
I just received from Nara, a copy of my father's naturalization papers. Good because it's more info, but bad because it puts an end to dual citizenship. I don't ever remember his talking about becoming a citizen. Oh well.

Re: Looking for Terracciano relatives from Pomigliano
I'm half Calabrese, my paternal grandparents--Giuseppe Epifano (San Mango d'Aquino) and Fenicia Mancuso (Feroleto Antico)--and half Foggian, my maternal grandparents--Luigi Tardio and Veneranda Del Giudice, both from San Marco in Lamis in Foggia. Thus far, I've been able to trace my paternal side to my great great grandparents and my maternal side to my great grandparents.catsmeow2525 wrote:Now, have you located your ancestors? My signature is Calabrese dialect and translates roughly to "One hand washes the other and together the two wash the face."

I am also searching for "Terracino" relatives. I was born with this last name, and had no idea how many different spelling there were of it. I have been able to trace back to my great grandfather who was born in "Tremonte" italy. Not sure of spelling. Good luck and who knows, we may be related.

Re: Looking for Terracciano relatives from Pomigliano
Hello,
I am not sure if this thread is still active, but I am trying a quick post to see if it is. I also have Terracciano relatives from this area, although mine all list their hometown as Casalnuovo di Napoli, which is very close to the location mentioned in this thread. I am taking a trip to Italy this summer with the intention of driving through the area, and I was very excited to stop on Via Felice Terracciano.
My great grandmother was Angelina Terracciano and she arrived from Casalnuovo in 1913. Her father was Carmine. Here's the text from her Ellis Island arrival in 1902
Angela Terracciano
Date of Arrival August 07, 1902
Port of Departure Naples
Age 13
Calling or Occupation Domestic
Coming to be with Father Carmine Terracciano 2121 2 E 150 St. NY
Ship Name Nuestria
Point of Departure Naples
Manfest Line Number 3
If anyone has any information regarding Angelina or Carmine and their time in Italy it would be appreciated,

Re: Looking for Terracciano relatives from Pomigliano
Been reading the notes between Kathleen and Biff....I have done a little research on the Terracciano name and some of my Terracciano's also went to New Jersey..... Bayonne... my grandfather Carmine came from Brucciano and we have been there. The place is just crawling with Terraccianos. I would like to be in contact with both of you. Thanks, Caroline
