Mantova

Postby italgrrl » 21 Mar 2008, 16:01

Does anyone know anything about the surname Mantova? I've seen on some threads that this is not an Italian surname but I've also heard that this was possibly a Jewish-Italian surname from the province of Mantova (Mantua). Specifically I'm looking for a Rosa Mantova who married into the D'Aveta family in Terracina probably around the mid-late 1800's.

Thanks!

There are LDS microfilms for civil records for years 1871 through 1910.

Find a Family History Center (FHC) near you.

Write down the film numbers you'd like to view, go in and order. Cost is about $5.50 USD per film and takes about 4 weeks to receive.

Since you don't know the actual year of marriage you may want to go through the films, also if they had children you may be able to find the birth acts which will give you the childs name, father and mother (including her surname).

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Elizabeth

Just for the heck of it, I checked the Ellis Island manifests for both names. No immigrant named Mantova and only one, Carlo D'Aveta.
