Forame Surname

Post by jwiilliams »

Can anyone help me figure out what the Forame surname means? I know that they are from Letojanni, Messina, Sicily, Italy.

Also, does anyone know how I can trace my ancestry back to italy? I wrote a letter in Italian and it was never responded to.

Hi Forame is a mistaken version of FORAMI surname
I don't know the origin of this surname, but the word: Forame (1 hole) -Forami (more holes) coming from latin word FORAMEN=hole, in reference to coves, caverns in the territory, land.....

for to know the ancestor origin you can see the Mormon's microfilms :

Italy, Messina, Letojanni - Civil registration

Titles Registri dello stato civile, 1845-1910 Letojanni (Messina). Ufficio dello stato civile
